This year, we are organizing a couple of webinars on the new German due diligence law. On 6.4., we will have Dr. Tytti Nahi from the Fairtrade organisation sharing her insights on the topic. Our members will receive an invitation to the webinar via e-mail.

Introduction

It’s the right time to find out what the new German due diligence law means for Finnish companies doing business with German counterparts.

From 2023 onwards, due diligence on human rights and environmental issues will be mandatory for large companies registered in Germany. The new law applies directly to companies with more than 1,000 employees, but it will also influence small and medium-scale companies – including Finnish firms – who do business with large companies.

In this webinar, you’ll get a compact overview of due diligence:

  • What does “Human Rights and Environmental Due Diligence” (HREDD) mean?
  • What exactly does the new German HREDD law require of companies?
  • Practically speaking, what’s the first step in developing a corporate HREDD process?

The webinar is organized together by communication agency Kaskas and German-Finnish Chamber of Commerce. The main presenter is Dr. Tytti Nahi, who has over 20 years of experience in advancing human rights in global supply chains and international trade. In her PhD, Tytti studied co-creation among companies and non-governmental organisations in the development of new, responsible business models. As her main job, Tytti leads Fairtrade’s Centre of Excellence on HREDD that is, for example, responsible for strengthening Fairtrade’s own process of due diligence on human rights and the environment.
